Gosh! This is just so very well written. It has that particular charm that comes with children being the storytellers, that sort of mingling of small details with greater arcs, and I can't compliment you enough for writing believable children. You've really created Caroline and Cassidy here, given them their own identities separate from Miranda, and separate from one another as well.

They are astonishingly perceptive, but don't note what they perceive as especially important; I particularly love how you've written their relationships with Miranda and their father and Stephen, how you wrote the strawberry piece - how it feels like it's cheating, because it's not just berry, it's berry and space, which is such perfect finicky child logic - I love the incubator, I love how Caroline and Cassidy can carry on conversations based on eyebrows, how they take after Miranda in so many ways except for in picking at them when they're vulnerable ~ I just love every single line in this chapter. Cass shielding Caroline from endings? Guh. So perfect. And her reaction to Fred's death being that she would have shielded Caroline from that? Oh my goodness, wonderful. And I love that they're fascinated with Andy! And that Cass has staring contests with Patricia!

Um. Long comment, I know. But, just, I can't seem to shut up about the things I love.
