(Meet Me In St. Louis is on, the roommates are out of town, and I've been wearing university sweatpants all day: it's time.)
Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you between one and three sentences from that story.

("In case you slip in the shower," Oliver says. Sam punches his shoulder.)
WELL FANCY SEEING YOU HERE.
Date: 2011-12-18 01:13 am (UTC)(Also, that movie is the BEST. "The ice man saw a drunkard get shot, and the blood spurted out three feet!" means "Merry Christmas" in the Underground RR house.)
SHOCKING, ISN'T IT.
Date: 2011-12-18 02:52 am (UTC)"I mean--" She's got every single part of her uniform on, like every rookie in the history of ever, long-sleeved duty shirt even though it's a thousand fucking degrees in the shade. The hair at the back of her neck is damp, something Sam is studiously Not Noticing. "How was, you know. Working Guns and Gangs?"
"Quieter," Sam says, real pointed. Which works for another two blocks, then:
"Trained any rookies before?"

Whatever. She doesn't care.)

Date: 2011-12-18 03:43 am (UTC)They do the whole thing, this time around: get a real tree because she insists (Sam it doesn't count if it's fake), stand nervously at the edges of Zoe and Oliver's Christmas party. (Well--Andy's nervous, Sam's ridden this particular rodeo before; with Corinne, not that it matters.) They've managed to beg off every other year, Sarah in St. Catherines or out to dinner with Andy's dad, but now that they're married Zoe insists.
"Big leagues now," Sam murmurs in Andy's ear, handing her a glass of eggnog. She worms her hand into his, hangs on.

Date: 2011-12-18 08:06 pm (UTC)"I'm pretty sure if you went into labour," Alicia muses, "no one would be brave enough to call 911."
Kalinda flicks through her notebook. "Which is why I don't intend to give birth at our place of work."
And at that moment, Alicia is halfway-convinced Kalinda has the ability to make the mysteries of life bend to her will.
